Reported to cause rabbit eye irritation after exposure to dust. Low order of acute oral toxicity based on acute and chronic stidues in several species. Not mutagenic in Ames assay or chromosone aberration test.

3. PRECAUTIONS FOR USE

3.1 Exposure Standards
Occupational exposure standard : 5 mg/m3 - measurements of environmental dust have shown a significant respirable content, although due to the nature of the material, this is unlikely to present a serious problem.
3.2 Engineering Controls
Ensure adequate ventilation to maintain exposure levels below standards.
3.3 Personal Protection
Respiratory - respirator and/or dust masks are recommended when manually opening and emptying bags and sacks. Eyes - safety spectacles are recommended as minimum eye protection. Skin - protection is not normally required for skin contact. Wash hands and face thoroughly after handling and before work breaks, eating, drinking, smoking and using toilet facilities.
3.4 Flammability
Burns if heated, similar to wood. Chars readily on heating above 300 deg C. May form flammable dust air mixtures.

SAFE HANDLING INFORMATION

4.1 Storage / Transport
Ground all equipment. Blanket vessel with inert gas when emptying bags where flammable vapours may be present. Ground operator and pour material slowly into conductive, grounded chute. For large bags, a ground cable must be attached to the bag ground connection. Store in a cool, dry, well ventilated place. Keep container closed when not in use. Keep away from heat, flame, sparks and other ignition sources. Do not store in direct sunlight or expose to UV radiation.
