2. HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION

2.1 Health Effects - Acute
Swallowed
Harmful by ingestion. Symptoms may include burning sensations.
Eye
Material is extremely destructive to eyes.
Skin
Harmful by skin absorption. Material is extremely destructive to skin.
Inhaled
Harmful by inhalation. Material is extremely destructive to the respiratory tract. Inhalation may be fatal as a result of spasm, inflammation, oedema of larynx, bronchi, chemical pneumonitis or pulmonary oedema. Symptoms may include burning sensation, coughing, wheezing, laryngitis, shortness of breath, headache, nausea and vomiting.
2.2 Health Effects - Chronic
As this is a fluoride product, it is possible that symptoms of chronic poisoning will occur in case of being exposed to high concentrations of dust for extended periods of time.
2.3 First Aid
Swallowed
Contact a doctor or the immediately.
Eye
Flood eyes with clean water for at least 15 minutes, retracting eyelids often. If effects occur/persist seek medical attention.
Skin
Immediately flush affected areas thoroughly with running water for at least 15 minutes. If effects occur/persist seek medical attention.
Inhaled
Remove victim to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult give oxygen. Seek medical attention.
First Aid Facilities
Ensure an eye bath and safety shower are available and ready for use.
2.5 Advice to Doctor
In case victim has inhalation overexposure, perform a gastric lavage. Treat symptomatically based on judgement of doctor and individual reactions of patient. It is possible symptoms of chronic poisoning will occur after exposure to high levels of dust over a long period of time.

3. PRECAUTIONS FOR USE

3.1 Exposure Standards
No exposure limit has been established for this product, however the following is recommended : Fluorides, as F : TWA = 2.5 mg/m3
3.2 Engineering Controls
Ensure adequate ventilation to maintain exposure levels below standards, including the use of local exhaust ventilation.
3.3 Personal Protection
Respiratory - wear a NIOSH/MSHA approved full face-piece respirator. Eyes - safety goggles. Skin - chemical-resistant gloves, clothing to minimise exposure to skin. Wash hands and face thoroughly after handling and before work breaks, eating, drinking, smoking and using toilet facilities.
3.4 Flammability
Material is not flammable but will burn.

4.3 Spills and Disposal
Spills
Avoid raising dust. Clean up personnel should wear full protective clothing including safety goggles, rubber boots, heavy rubber gloves and breathing apparatus.
Contain spill and absorb on sand or vermiculite. Pick up material, place in labelled containers and hold for waste disposal.
Disposal
Dispose of in accordance with all Local, State and Federal regulations at an approved waste disposal facility. Material can be changed to the fluoride (CaF2) by dissolving it with plenty of lime water and then disposing.
4.4 FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD
Fire / Explosion
Product emits toxic fumes under fire conditions. Hazardous combustion products include hydrogen fluoride. Hazardous polymerisation has not been reported. Material is incompatible with sodium hydroxide, strong acids and strong bases.
Extinguishing Media
Fire-fighters should wear full protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus. Use dry chemical powder type extinguishers.
